  11.                     HERE'S HOW SHAREWARE WORKS:

  13. You are encouraged to copy the SAM diskette and share it freely
  14. with others.  You have the luxury of trying out the program at
  15. your own pace and in the comfort of your own home or workplace.  This is
  16. not a "demo", but an actual working version of the program.
  17.  
  18. After you have used SAM for a maximum 30 day evaluation period you 
  19. must either discontinue use of the program or register your copy with
  20. ArkanSoftware Publishing.

  22. Why pay at all?

  25.    *  You receive a printed user manual
  26.    *  Three months of technical support - by phone or written
  27.    *  Notification of updates and new versions

  36. So please dive in and enjoy the fun of legally sharing good software with
  37. your friends and associates. But also be aware of the following restrictions,
  38. designed to protect the community of Shareware users and to prevent others
  39. from taking unfair advantage of the trust, hard work, and good will of
  40. Shareware authors. Exceptions to these conditions must be received in writing
  41. from ArkanSoftware Publishers.

  43. 1. The files and programs on the disks may not be modified or deleted.
  44. 2. The programs cannot be sold as part of some other more inclusive package.
  45. 3. The programs cannot be "rented" or "leased" to others.
  46. 4. In the case of distribution via any telecommunications link
  47.    the following must be done:
  48.        All ArkanSoftware Publishers programs (and documentation files) must 
  49.        be transferred in a library or archive format.  This means that all 
  50.        the files on each ArkanSoftware Publishers disk must be combined into 
  51.        one file.

  56. 5. If you're copying the disks for distribution to students in a classroom,
  57.    you must provide them with the following written notice:

  81. SAM requires a hard disk and a minimum of 512K RAM.  To install the
  82. program, put the SAM Install disk into your A: (or B:) disk drive 
  83. and type:

  85.           >A:<Enter>
  86.           >INSTALL<Enter>
  87.  
  88. INSTALL asks you for specific information and then creates a subdirectory
  89. on your hard disk and copies the necessary programs and files into that
  90. subdirectory. You'll need about 800K of available disk space.

  92. STARTUP:

  94. 1. Start SAM with the following DOS commands:
  95.           >CD\SAM
  96.           >SAM
  97.  
  98. 2. Sample data for evaluating and learning SAM is available by 
  99.    starting SAM with the following command:  
  100.    
  101.           >SAM /S
  102.    
  103.    In the Appointment Detail screen press F3 and enter the date 08/08/88
  104.    for sample appointments. Using the sample data will NOT affect your
  105.    regular data files.

  107. 3. Be DILIGENT about data backup as certain key files CANNOT be easily 
  108.    replaced. See the Quit menu for a limited backup capability.

  118. SAM. The program utilizes clear, informative menus. The complete User
  119. Manual (as Help screens) is always available by pressing F1. Start at the
  120. very first screen for an introduction.
